Price Skoda

in this blog post, I will be showing Skoda’s strategy at setting prices, changing prices, price promotions, pricing terms, new product pricing, pricing tactics, influences upon pricing, pricing strategy, payment and price discrimination. Skoda was originally taken over as a whole owned subsidiary of the VAG (Volkswagen Automotive Group) in the year 2000 and was originally meant to serve as the VW Group’s entry model. However, Skoda has shifted more upmarket with most of their models overlapping their Volkswagen counterparts on price and feature as well as the space they provide within their models.

When Skoda sets its price for their cars they use the Value-based Pricing strategy, they use this pricing strategy because they will consider the value of the car to the consumer rather than how much it costs to produce it. Another, reason that Skoda chooses this strategy is that it’s brand values stand for:

  • Value for money
  • Reliability
  • Fitness for function
  • Quality
  • Integrity

So by choosing this pricing strategy they are giving the consumer value for money but also keeping their prices at a value where they compete with the other competitors in the market. Below, is an image that shows all the starting prices of the Skoda models.

Skoda is forever developing new cars to break into different markets within the car industry and the best example of this is their new car due to be released April 2017 in the UK market is the Skoda Kodiaq. The Kodiaq is a 4×4 family SUV that is a 5 seater at base price with the optional extra of making it a 7 seater. This is the first large family SUV that Skoda has attempted to build and has already had good reviews from many of the main review magazines and companies. With it being an SUV you would expect to be spending quite a lot of money on it, however, Skoda is expected to set the base price at only £21,495, which is really impressive because it has all of the features that the VW Tiguan and more but is sold at £1425 cheaper which is unbelievable. below will be a video of carwow’s review of the car:

From a personal point of view, Skoda is value for money and a really reliable car. I know this because my family owned a 2002 Skoda Fabia which was in the family for 13 years and a car that I had driven for almost 3 years, in the 13 years that my family had driven the car there were no problems with the car only minor fixes such as the general upkeep of a car. In my personal opinion, if you want a car that is reasonably priced and good value for money, Skoda is the car for you.
